There are a few new things in my Etsy vintage shop ‘Houdini House’ which you can access here.
There is this new Mizpah brooch:
From Genesis 31:49 of the Bible: “And Mizpah; for he said, The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another”. This quote is written on the second heart of the brooch.
This stunning twin hearted brooch was intended for a loved one and dates from approx 100 years ago. Made in gold metal (possibly pinchbeck or brass) it is beautifully finished with entwined ivy leaf decoration between the two hearts.
Mizpah is an emotional bond between people who are separated (either physically or by death) and therefore ‘Mizpah’ brooches were often given by servicemen to their sweethearts as they went off to war.
Who did this belong to? What was their story? Did they ever marry or even meet again? It brings out the old romantic in me!
…And yet to be fully listed but all raring to go are these other few wares.
Plus plenty of others…so watch this space…
