My beau is currently working a string of night-shifts and therefore sleeping throughout the day – so I have found myself sitting in the garden room a lot – especially as it is the furthest room from the bedroom. Here I sit, out of ear-shot, feet up on the sofa, looking at your blogs and endlessly surfing the web, following one link to another…to another…to another…often aimlessly. Even so, I love it and it is my idea of pure indulgence (especially avec chocolate!)
I have a view of the garden and Misty-Blue is sitting alongside me; sometimes purring, but mostly playing and biting! We had some recent problems with the central heating system and the garden room radiator decided to stop working all together! Within these recent winter moments it has been unbearably cold. However, it is now fixed (after the plumber turned it upside down and round about) and despite revealing an unsightly and unpainted side (I really must get onto that!) it now is possibly the warmest room in the house! It also has two velux windows within its slopping ceiling too – so the room is always well lit – especially in the summer when we get the sun on the back for most of the day.
So here I sit…enjoying the view and the silence. Heaven. I may be here for some time…

Oh. My. Goodness. Al, you have the most wonderful, elegant and cosy sense of style. Your interior design skills are amazing! These could be images of a show house in a glossy magazine!

Aww bless you – thanks Reggie.
Sadly the garden room has tended to become the home for things that don’t have a place elsewhere in the house – so considering this, I’m quite happy with how it looks…for now ;-) It is very cosy though that’s for sure…especially looking straight onto the garden.

Holy moly! I want to live in that garden room. I agree with Reggie that you have great style skills. If you get tired of your current jobs you could go into the interior decorating field. I keep scrolling up to look at it again and again. So beautiful. Is that a real orange tree?

Do you know, I would LOVE to be an interior designer! If I hadn’t trained as a music therapist then that is what I think I would have tried to have gone into ;-)

Hi Al…agreeing also with Reggie…love your design style…that room is Heaven!!….I can imagine even in winter how warm and cozy it is…..I love the clock throw pillow and is that a real orange tree or is it fake….whatever it is it looks great…..No need for heat here in Atlanta….was so beautiful today I am working on my tan because everybody knows that fat always looks better when it’s tanned!…..Happy Easter to you if you celebrate…and have a great rest of the weekend….Sue.

HI Sue – you DO make me laugh! The tree has real oranges on it – although they are a small variety – and she lives outside in the warmer weather ;-) When the heating is o the garden room is very cozy but soon gets cold with three outside walls once it’s gone off! ;-) Hoppy Easter to you too ;-)

Oooh lovely! I too find it wonderfully indulgent to sit and catch up with blogs and emails. Like right now, still in bed having just munched through a toasted hot cross bun :-)

It’s my favourite time Catherine! New house, breakfast in bed, bank holiday weekend….it doesn’t get much better than that! ;-) Enjoy…

Hello, Alan,
I can’t believe I haven’t been to your blog for such a long time! Lots of nice posts to read and photographs to look at…
First of all – I love your garden room. Everything’s so nice there, you certainly know how to live! It could easily be featured in one of my favourite interior design magazines. It’s so light and fresh and the antique furniture and accessories don’t look too “heavy” – if you know what I mean. What’s in the collection of books? English classics? Oh, and the orange tree – is it hard to look after?
I hope your garden has recovered and you have lots of pretty blooms. The temperature over here has risen to about +8C, so we should have our trees turn green very soon. I’m really looking forward to that.
Say “hi” for me to the furry ladies and speak to you soon.
K.xxx

P.S. I almost forgot – the font that I use for our monthly desktop images is called “HP PSG”. I haven’t got a clue what it stands for…
