I went home at the weekend to visit my mum and dad – which proved, as ever, a photo opportunity to take some pictures of their little doggy Ben! He is now 18 months old and still as cute – however, he appears to have lost his desire for being a photographic model. I had to hold a treat in my hand to even get him to pose! Want to see?
I was also able to take a few piccies of my puddy-cat as she slept on the new sofa. She has been caught scratching it on numerous occasions and so normally is now banned from going on it unsupervised…however, she looked so cute that I couldn’t bring myself to move her! I forgave her for her sneekiness and shrewdness. We bartered and she agreed to a few snapshots in return for another hour of sofa-time! ;-)

Totally GORGEOUS photos, Al. Your puddy-cat is sooo beautiful. As to ‘bartering extra sofa time for a few snapshots’ – gosh, I should try that trick with my cat!

Your cat has the most beautiful EYES !! And your parents dog…still looks like a sweet puppy.
I would like to have a kitty…but the only requirement would be that it remain a kitty the rest of it’s life…! Just love kitty’s.
Thank you for dropping by and joining my blog. I truly appreciate that.
* This is my thrid attempt to post…I keep losing it somehow.

That is the cutest little dog… such personality in his face… looks like a rascal and just waiting to have some fun. and your kitty looks pretty cuddly … she reminds me so much of a kitty I had when I was a teen.. I called her Chantzee…

Awww, there’s nothing better than sweet critters and these two look like two of the sweetest. Obviously, they’ve trained you well (treats for photos and bartering for the couch). We’ve been well-trained by our four-footed angels, too, so I know how that goes.
The best way to keep Merlin from scratching your furniture is to keep her claws clipped. She may still try to scratch, but it won’t hurt the furniture… or you. We have a claw-clipping day every 3-4 weeks; if we go longer there’s a good chance of some damage to furniture… or us.
Keep the photos coming! I love starting my day off with photos of such precious critters.

What a stunning cat! She obviously loves posing for photos, hehe :-)
Thanks for the comment you left the other day – I hope that for you, like me, that feeling of meandering comes and goes, and isn’t always present. Sometimes this is enough, and sometimes it isn’t; I’m sure that will always be the case.

Two real beauties.
Ben is really something special, I hope he doesn’t wear your parents out – he does look as if he could. I made a scratchy post for Otis and put it in front of one sofa arm, it’s got some toys hanging off it so can look a bit like a voodoo totem pole but he uses it and cant get to the sofa. x

Thanks all of you for your beautiful comments. I’m sat here on the said sofa now – and of course Merlin has jumped next to me, purring, going for the cute factor and is now proceeding to curl herself up into sleep mode!!
Yes Madeleine – really Ben is too much for my parents – but he has given so much joy and purpose to my mum’s life again (as opposed to just my dads carer) that it has really made a difference. My dad just grunts a lot at him apparently – I remind him, when I go home, how much hassle the Alsations we’ve always had also created. He seems to have forgotten that with the passing of time. All pets bring responsibility, stress and angst – regardless of how big or small – but they bring lots of love too.
There would be absolutely no way she’d get her nails clipped – by myself or the vets! Merlin is beautiful – but also very independent and stubborn (just like me! …the stubborn that is…not the beautiful!) and she wouldn’t go along with that idea, for sure! ;-) She has a scratching post, which she uses, but the material of this sofa just lends itself to reaching out and having a little claw!
